I’ve been a medical transcriptionist since 1989 and still love the work, though at times it’s difficult to handle, but while in Mississippi back in 2007 and early 2008, I began to write again (after a brief fling with freelancing in the mid-1980s). While I could only visit it briefly, the Mississippi Writer’s Room in the Eudora Welty Library in Jackson, MS, stirred me deeply.
I’m not in that beautiful state just now but hope to return there someday and settle down. In the meantime, I’ve been writing more and more, and this blog is about that and about various odds and ends that I come across, and right now, too, it’s about the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Those posts are more note-taking than anything else, as I know very little about the Civil War at the moment, but do want to spend some part of my retirement visiting battlefields and other sites, and learning much more about it…this anniversary is a good time to start getting ready for that.
